Regional community, health, and social initiatives across Europe and Africa

Various regional and national initiatives are being implemented across Europe and West Africa. In Burkina Faso, 1,888 health professionals, dubbed ‘Sentinelles de la santé’, have completed patriotic immersion training to prepare for their service roles.

In France, several community and academic programs are underway. The city of Angres is launching a neighborhood referent program to improve local dialogue, while Saint-Varent is renewing its social action council. Educational initiatives include inclusive school programs in Belgium and calls for political engagement regarding education ahead of the 2027 French elections. Academic opportunities include a doctoral residency at the Maison des Sciences sociales et des Humanités Ange-Guépin.

Social welfare and senior support are also prominent. The ‘Semaine Bleue’ is set to take place across France, offering various activities for retirees. In Marseille, the ‘Déj’Aînés’ event aims to combat elderly isolation through intergenerational lunches. Additionally, mental health awareness weeks are being organized in Saverne.
