iFood accuses Keeta of predatory pricing in Brazil

iFood has filed a formal complaint with Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) against Keeta, a delivery platform controlled by the Chinese company Meituan. The Brazilian company accuses Keeta of engaging in predatory pricing practices to capture market share and eliminate competitors.

iFood alleges that Keeta is operating with a negative profit per order in Brazil, artificially subsidizing its operations with capital from its Chinese parent company. The complaint highlights the use of aggressive discounts, including coupons of up to R$ 250 and price reductions of up to 80%. iFood argues this creates an artificial demand that forces restaurants to expand capacity for unsustainable growth and threatens the stability of the delivery ecosystem for both restaurants and couriers.

In response to the filing, iFood has requested three specific actions from CADE: the opening of a formal administrative process, the immediate adoption of preventive measures to stop pricing below cost, and periodic access to Keeta’s cost and pricing data for independent monitoring. Keeta has defended its position, suggesting that the Brazilian delivery market has been blocked by a monopoly that prevents free choice and channel diversification.
