IFRJ Volta Redonda investigates AI‑generated sexualized images of teenage students
The Federal Institute of Rio de Janeiro (IFRJ) campus in Volta Redonda launched an investigation after more than 500 images depicting high‑school girls aged 16‑17 in sexualized contexts were found on a laboratory computer. The images were allegedly created using artificial‑intelligence tools by a 17‑year‑old student whose login was linked to the files.
The student union organized a protest under the slogan “Nenhum caso em silêncio!” demanding a thorough inquiry, victim support and concrete responses from the institute. IFRJ’s director, André Seixas, confirmed the opening of a disciplinary commission, administrative measures and a meeting with students, families and authorities. Local councilors also voiced condemnation and pledged to monitor the case.
IFRJ issued an official note repudiating gender‑based violence and cybercrime, stating that all allegations will be pursued in accordance with legal and institutional procedures, with referrals to competent authorities as needed.
