EBC completes republication of content following electoral restrictions

The Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) has concluded the process of republishing all content that was temporarily removed from its websites during the electoral restriction period. This completion marks the end of the activities of the 2026 Electoral Period Adequacy Working Group (GT), which was established on June 3 to coordinate compliance with electoral legislation across the company’s various communication channels, including radio, television, portals, and social media.

The Working Group, which held its final meeting on October 27, was tasked with supervising the availability of content to ensure transparency, impartiality, and plurality. The temporary unavailability of certain materials, which included content published between January 1, 2023, and July 3, 2026, was based on guidelines from the Presidency’s Social Communication Secretariat (Secom), the Attorney General’s Office (AGU), and the Electoral Justice system.

EBC Director-General Thiago Regotto praised the collective effort of the teams, stating that the measures did not restrict journalistic activity and that the process reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the right to information and democracy.
