IFSP acquires property for new Sumaré Campus
The Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP) has signed an agreement to acquire a property for the establishment of the Sumaré Campus. The acquisition, valued at R$ 40.31 million, involves a site located in the Planalto do Sol neighborhood that previously housed a Schneider Electric unit.
The property features a total area of 20,369.48 m² with 10,791.11 m² of built space. Following the acquisition, the institution will begin renovations and adaptations to prepare the facility for public, free educational courses. The campus is expected to begin activities in the second half of 2027.
IFSP Rector Silmário Batista dos Santos noted that this represents the 16th unit expansion of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific, and Technological Education under the current administration. Sharon Rigazzo, the general director of the Sumaré Campus, stated the initiative aims to provide qualified labor to support local economic development.
