IFSP hosts EJA-EPT education summit in Avaré

The Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of São Paulo (IFSP) is hosting the EJA-EPT Meeting at its Avaré campus. The three-day event, running from the 20th to the 22nd, brings together students, researchers, managers, and staff to discuss the integration of Youth and Adult Education (EJA) with Professional and Technological Education (EPT).

Participants are focusing on strengthening this educational modality by addressing issues such as ableism, racism, and ageism. Discussions emphasize that EJA should not merely be a reduced-workload version of regular schooling but requires specific organizational structures.

While the number of EJA students in Brazil has declined from approximately 2 million in 2016 to an estimated 1.3 million in 2025, federal investment in the sector has increased significantly, rising from roughly R$ 21 million in 2019 to approximately R$ 146 million in 2025. This follows the Ministry of Education's launch of the National Pact to overcome illiteracy and qualify youth and adults.
