IFSP students win awards at Fenadante 2026 science fair

Students from the Instituto Federal de São Paulo (IFSP) achieved recognition at the 8th Fenadante Science and Technology Fair. Mariane Gomes de Lima, a student from the Bragança Paulista campus, won a bronze medal in the Human Sciences category for her project, ‘Território, memória e silenciamento: a invisibilização africana na toponímia do Sudeste brasileiro’. The study, supported by CNPq, analyzed the names of 1,668 municipalities in Southeast Brazil to discuss the erasure of African culture in regional naming processes. As a result of her achievement, Lima has been granted credentials to participate in the 12th Brazilian Science Initiation Fair (Febic) in 2027.

Other IFSP projects were showcased at the event. These included FoodScan, an artificial intelligence application developed by Ana Carolina Siqueira de Macedo, Laura Nizzoli dos Santos, and Felipe Martins de Lima. The app is designed to interpret food labels and promote food safety by categorizing data based on individual user profiles and identifying harmful ingredients. Additionally, the Capivari campus presented research regarding kombucha cellulose enriched with Tetragona clavipes honey.
