IFX announces US$400 million regional investment for AI infrastructure
IFX, a Latin American digital infrastructure operator, has announced a regional investment plan exceeding US$400 million for the 2026-2027 period. The initiative aims to expand data center capacity to support artificial intelligence workloads, ensuring that AI processing for the region occurs on local soil.
The regional investment includes US$169 million for Colombia, approximately US$19 million for Argentina, and US$6 million for El Salvador. In Guatemala, the company is investing US$45 million to strengthen its data centers, incorporate AI applications, and expand its fiber optic network, cloud, and cybersecurity operations. This follows a previous US$25 million investment in the Orion data center in Guatemala.
The expansion coincides with the company’s first major rebranding in 27 years, marking its transition from a telecommunications operator to a regional digital infrastructure platform. IFX intends to serve priority sectors such as banking, government, retail, health, and education by providing localized computing power that complies with regional data protection laws.
