IG Metall honors thousands of members at jubilee event

The IG Metall Wolfsburg union held a jubilee celebration at CongressPark, honoring 4,310 members from the Wolfsburg, Helmstedt, and Gifhorn regions for their long-term commitment to the organization. Approximately 1,200 guests attended the event.

During the ceremony, First Representative Flavio Benites noted that the Wolfsburg branch is celebrating its 80th anniversary. He credited the members' engagement with securing fair wages, better working conditions, and increased co-determination for future generations.

Managing Director Matthias Disterheft emphasized the need to defend past labor achievements, such as the eight-hour workday and social security benefits, which he stated are currently facing significant pressure. Daniela Cavallo, Chairwoman of the Volkswagen Group and General Works Council, delivered the keynote speech.
