Žiga Daneu to play for University of San Francisco

Slovenian basketball player Žiga Daneu is moving to the United States to continue his career at the University of San Francisco. The move follows a mutual agreement with his current club, Cedevita Olimpija.

Daneu, 24, has been part of the Cedevita Olimpija organization since his youth. He was named the most valuable player of the Slovenian Supercup in 2024 and served as an ambassador for the Euroleague Basketball social responsibility project, ‘One Team’. During the 2025/26 season, he appeared in eight games across the ABA League and European competitions.

The University of San Francisco holds significant basketball history, having been the home of NBA legend Bill Russell between 1953 and 1956, a period during which the team won NCAA titles.
