Japan crime reports include teacher arrested for advising students on theft

Multiple criminal incidents involving theft, embezzlement, and fraud have been reported across Japan.

A 26-year-old Tokyo metropolitan high school teacher, Ryosuke Kimura, was arrested for allegedly attempting to commit theft alongside two male students. Investigators claim Kimura advised the students on how to sell stolen goods, including suggesting that gold Buddhist altar bells could be sold for high prices, and teaching them how to use flea market websites. The group reportedly attempted to enter a residence in February but fled after realizing a resident was present.

In other cases, a 50-year-old hospital administrative staff member in Mie Prefecture was referred to prosecutors for embezzling approximately 1.15 million yen from a municipal hospital. Similarly, a 53-year-old official at Muroran General Hospital in Hokkaido was arrested for allegedly embezzling 4 million yen from a safe.

In Saitama, a 36-year-old caregiver was arrested for stealing approximately 2 million yen in jewelry from a nursing home resident, with total damages potentially reaching 10 million yen across multiple facilities. Additionally, a 31-year-old man in Nagoya was arrested for fraud after deceiving a man with a fake construction project, and a 57-year-old man in Hakodate was arrested for robbery-related injury after stealing a vehicle containing 7 million yen in cash.
