Iga Świątek targets WTA Finals qualification after US Open loss

Following a difficult US Open campaign, tennis player Iga Świątek is focusing on upcoming tournaments in China to secure her qualification for the WTA Finals. Her recent loss to Qinwen Zheng, where she led 5-0 in the first set before ultimately losing, has been described by tennis legend Kim Clijsters as a painful defeat.

Świątek is expected to participate in WTA 1000 tournaments in Beijing and Wuhan to regain form and ranking points. Analysts suggest she is utilizing a period of rest at an academy in Barcelona to prepare for this upcoming stretch, aiming to reverse the trend of her most challenging season since 2021.
