IGAC proposes new boundary for Barranquilla and Puerto Colombia

The Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi (IGAC) has submitted a technical report to the Congress of the Republic regarding the territorial dispute between Barranquilla and Puerto Colombia over the Corredor Universitario. The 400-page document proposes a new boundary based on 15 cartographic points and coordinates, incorporating historical, geographical, and legal precedents.

The proposal suggests integrating several key areas into the jurisdiction of Barranquilla, including Villa Campestre, the Corredor Universitario, and sectors such as the Universidad del Atlántico, Universidad Libre, and various schools and shopping centers. Additionally, the proposed trace includes the Ciénaga de Mallorquín and Puerto Mocho. While the report provides a technical framework, the final decision on the borders rests with Congress.
