IGAD and Djibouti launch community leadership training in Obock
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), in partnership with the Djiboutian government and the National Office for Refugee and Disaster Assistance (ONARS), has launched a training program for leaders within refugee and host communities in Obock.
Running from August 4 to 6, 2026, the initiative aims to strengthen social cohesion, promote dialogue, and prevent conflict. The program is part of the IGAD Social Cohesion Initiative and is supported by the Swedish government. The region of Obock currently hosts Yemeni refugees and Eritrean asylum seekers.
