Igala bus station enters final construction phase
Construction of the new bus station in Igala has entered its final phase. According to Aleksandar Kovačević, director of the municipal Agency for Construction and Development, equipment for the facility is expected to arrive within approximately 20 days.
The project, which began in June 2023, has faced several delays due to underground installations, legal property issues, and technical coordination with CEDIS. The station is being built with a budget of nearly 10 million euros from the state capital budget, with Entext inženjering serving as the main contractor. Once complete, the facility will feature 18 platforms, 10 bus parking spaces, 53 car parking spaces, a taxi zone, and various commercial and catering facilities.
Local residents in the Gomila area have faced significant disruptions due to repeated road excavations for station installations. Work to asphalt the access road is currently underway, with completion expected by January. Additionally, a tender for a new road connecting settlements above Igala to the main highway is anticipated in early 2025, pending approval from the Administration for Cultural Heritage.
