Igarapé-Miri boat collision kills two young men
Two young men, identified as Thiago Pantoja and Rivaldo Lima, died following a collision between two small boats, known as rabetas, in the Meruú River near Igarapé-Miri, Pará.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday in a rural area of the municipality. The victims were reportedly returning home from a party in the Mutirão community when the collision took place.
A search operation led by the Military Fire Department and local residents eventually located the bodies. The Civil Police and the Capitania dos Portos are currently investigating the circumstances and causes of the accident.
