Igarapé-Miri boat shipwreck causes R$ 1 million in equipment loss

A boat carrying musical equipment for the band Sabor Açaí shipwrecked in a rural area of Igarapé-Miri, in northeastern Pará, on Wednesday (7). The accident occurred while the vessel was traveling toward the Meruú community to provide structure for a cultural and gospel festival in the Campo Nova Esperança region.

No injuries or fatalities have been reported. Nearby vessels assisted the occupants following the incident. The loss of equipment is estimated at approximately R$ 1 million, as the materials remain submerged. It is currently unclear if the scheduled festival will proceed or be modified due to the loss of the musical structure. The cause of the shipwreck has not yet been officially determined.
