Igarassu launches strategic economic development plan for 2035

The municipality of Igarassu has launched a new strategic economic development plan aimed at driving growth through 2035. Led by Mayor Elcione Ramos, the plan was developed by the Igarassu Economic Development Agency (ADEMIG) in partnership with Sebrae following two months of research and community engagement.

The diagnostic identified three primary economic pillars: the city's historical profile, its coastal shellfish fishing industry, and its productive industrial pole, which currently generates 34% of local wealth. The strategic document prioritizes six essential sectors: industry, fishing, tourism, culture, commerce, and family farming.

The plan includes 34 practical objectives and 53 specific goals and indicators. It also emphasizes innovation, youth engagement, environmental protection, and financial autonomy for women. To implement these actions, local authorities have coordinated meetings with the Pernambuco Development Agency (ADEPE) to convert these regional potentials into increased employment and income.
