IGBCE union branches report growth and mobilization in Germany
The IGBCE (Industriegewerkschaft Bergbau, Chemie und Energie) is reporting several organizational developments across Germany. In Wulfen, the local group has launched a new website to provide members with information regarding activities and schedules. Additionally, the group is promoting a DGB (German Trade Union Confederation) demonstration in Essen scheduled for September 26. The rally, featuring speaker Yasmin Fahimi, focuses on demands for a strong social state, including secure jobs, better working conditions, and pension reforms such as accessible retirement ages.
In the Saarland region, the IGBCE Schiffweiler local group has grown to over 500 members following its merger with the Merchweiler and Wemmetsweiler groups earlier this year. During a recent celebration, the group honored 36 long-standing members for their continued commitment to the union. Local officials, including Mayor Cedric Jochum, attended the event to recognize the importance of trade unions for workers.
