Igbere Traditional Rulers urge Deputy Speaker Kalu to withdraw from 2027 race

The Igbere Traditional Rulers Council has called on the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, to withdraw from the 2027 race for the Bende Federal Constituency.

During an engagement in Igbere, Abia State, the council, led by His Royal Majesty, Eze Joseph Ukaoha Anyanta, urged Kalu to respect a political agreement between the Ikwuisi and Umunna blocs regarding constituency representation. The rulers stated that adhering to such agreements is vital for maintaining peace and unity within the community.

Eze Joseph Anyanta confirmed the existence of the agreement and suggested that Kalu step aside to allow Dr. Chima Anyaso of the Labour Party, representing the Umunna bloc, to contest the seat in 2027.
