IGEAN to implement weight-based waste collection

Starting September 1, IGEAN will implement the 'diftar' principle for household waste collection. Under this system, only containers equipped with a chip will be emptied, and traditional waste bags will no longer be collected.

Waste will be weighed during collection, and residents will be charged based on the amount of waste they provide. Payments are managed through a prepaid balance; as containers are emptied, the cost is deducted from the user's balance. Residents can monitor their balance via the IGEAN website.

To assist with the transition, any remaining household waste bags can be exchanged at the municipal town hall reception desk until November 30, 2026. The value of the exchanged bags will be credited to the resident's diftar balance.
