IGLOBAL experts analyze global power shifts and AI impact
During a discussion titled ‘El Nuevo Tablero Global’ organized by the Instituto Global de Altos Estudios en Ciencias Sociales (IGLOBAL), specialists analyzed shifts in the international system and the influence of technology on politics.
Geopolitician Iván Gatón addressed the transformation of global power, noting the crisis of the liberal model, the rise of populism, and tensions within the transatlantic axis. He highlighted the economic and technological ascent of China and India, suggesting that China’s development of its own technological ecosystem—including digital platforms and satellites—is forcing a reassessment of traditional notions of hegemony. Gatón also noted that unilateral decisions by the United States are creating friction with European allies.
Specialist Vladimir Rozón examined how artificial intelligence is reshaping political communication and electoral campaigns. He noted that big data and micro-segmentation allow for highly targeted messaging. Rozón warned of the increasing risks posed by generative AI, such as deepfakes in audio, image, and video, which can present fabricated content as reality. He cited recent instances of AI use in elections in India, Romania, and Slovakia.
