Ignacio Brex faces long recovery after biceps surgery
Italian rugby center Ignacio “Nacho” Brex has undergone surgery on his left biceps following an injury sustained during a Top 14 match between Toulon and Pau. The French club confirmed the procedure, stating the 34-year-old will be unavailable for several months.
The injury significantly impacts the Italian national team, as Brex is expected to miss the upcoming November Nations Championship matches. Furthermore, reports indicate his recovery timeline may prevent him from participating in the 2027 Six Nations tournament.
National team coach Gonzalo Quesada faces challenges in restructuring the midfield. While Tommaso Menoncello is also managing injury concerns, the coaching staff may look toward players such as Leonardo Marin, Federico Mori, or Francois Mey to fill the gaps for upcoming fixtures against South Africa, Argentina, and Fiji.
