Ignacio Iramain warns of technofascism and digital control

During a celebration for the 29th anniversary of radio station 1200 am, Dr. Ignacio Iramain was awarded the ‘torch of liberty’ for his contributions to public health and medical research in Paraguay. In his acceptance speech, Iramain addressed the concept of ‘technofascism,’ a term used by sociologists and philosophers to describe the merger of political authoritarianism with advanced digital technology.

The concept involves several key elements, including social credit systems used for citizen control, surveillance capitalism where human behavior is harvested as data, and the unethical use of artificial intelligence for political profiling and electoral manipulation. The term highlights the risk of technology being used to subordinate human freedom to the absolute control of states or corporations.
