Ignazio La Russa supports potential re-election of Renato Schifani

Senate President Ignazio La Russa has expressed support for the potential re-election of Sicilian Governor Renato Schifani. Speaking at the Etna Forum, La Russa described Schifani as a ‘good president’ and noted that, under normal circumstances, a successful regional leader who chooses to run again is typically re-nominated by their coalition.

La Russa clarified that the final decision rests with the political parties and supporting forces rather than himself alone. This endorsement follows La Russa's previous role in facilitating Schifani's initial appointment in 2022.

During the same event, Governor Schifani addressed political discussions regarding the Technical Scientific Commission (CTS). He emphasized that the commission should remain a strategic, technical body and should be kept separate from political divisions, despite ongoing negotiations among parties regarding sub-government appointments.
