Igor Kokoskov discusses Luka Doncic and Jason Kidd

Veteran basketball coach Igor Kokoskov has reflected on his early experiences working with Luka Doncic and his subsequent tenure on Jason Kidd’s coaching staff.

Kokoskov, who led the Slovenian national team to a EuroBasket title in 2017, described Doncic as a “generational talent” and a “gift from God.” He noted that it only took two training sessions with the teenager to recognize that Doncic belonged in a different category of player.

Regarding his time as an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks during the 2021/22 season, Kokoskov expressed dissatisfaction with working under head coach Jason Kidd. While praising Kidd’s playing career, Kokoskov stated that his experience with Kidd as a coach and person was poor, citing personal issues and friction regarding Doncic’s presence on the team.
