Igor Marcondes reaches San Diego Challenger final
Brazilian tennis player Igor Marcondes has advanced to the final of the San Diego Challenger 75 after a hard-fought victory against France's Timo Legout. In a match lasting nearly three hours, Marcondes saved two match points in the final set to secure a 6/7 (7/5), 7/5, 7/5 win.
This marks Marcondes' first Challenger final since January 2022. His path to the final included a comeback victory against American Patrick Maloney in the round of 16 and a semifinal win over the tournament's second seed, Argentina's Federico Gomez.
Success in San Diego is expected to significantly improve Marcondes' ATP ranking. A win in the final could propel him to a career-high ranking of 234th, potentially opening doors for Australian Open qualifying.
