Igor Marojević wins first
Writer Igor Marojević has been named the first recipient of the "Brskovski groš" award for his novel "Majko, pusti me da idem" (Mother, Let Me Go). The award was presented during the 6th "Slova slovenska" International Literary Festival held in Mojkovac, Montenegro.
The award, which includes a plaque and 1,000 euros, recognizes exceptional achievements in contemporary literature. The festival jury was chaired by artistic director Mirko Rakočević. Marojević's novel tells a tragic family story set primarily in Montenegro, involving a protagonist attempting to piece together the life of her daughter following a violent encounter with a criminal partner.
Other highlights of the festival included a literary evening by prominent Slovak writer Milan Richter and the presentation of a poetry collection by Dado Topić, who also received a lifetime achievement award.
