Igor Paixão's future uncertain as Leeds United and Aston Villa target him

Olympique de Marseille winger Igor Paixão is at the centre of a transfer saga. Leeds United have identified him as a top target and have offered between €30‑35 million, while Marseille’s owner John McCourt insists on €50 million, creating a stalemate. The Brazilian has publicly stated he does not want to leave Marseille, preferring to stay and improve his record after a modest debut season.

Aston Villa have also shown interest, and the player has previously attracted inquiries from clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Brazil’s Flamengo, the latter of which he has long dreamed of joining. Marseille are under UEFA financial‑fair‑play pressure and may consider offers around €35 million, but Paixão’s personal preference to remain in France adds further uncertainty to any move.

Paixão, a product of Coritiba’s academy, scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 42 Ligue 1 matches last season, prompting the heightened interest from English clubs and keeping his future at the club in doubt.
