Igor Štimac considers entering Croatian politics

Former Croatian football player and coach Igor Štimac has announced that he is seriously considering active political engagement and the creation of a new political option. Štimac stated that he has been contemplating this ambition for over three years, driven by a desire to address what he describes as the degradation of society, increasing incompetence, and the spread of falsehoods.

Independent Member of Parliament Josip Jurčević has responded to the announcement, questioning the motives and the media model behind Štimac’s entry into politics. While referring to Štimac as a ‘Croatian sports legend and patriot,’ Jurčević raised concerns about whether Štimac is being positioned for a political role similar to that of Miroslav Škore. Jurčević called for public debate to protect national interests and Štimac’s reputation from potential behind-the-scenes manipulation.
