IGP Olatunji Disu receives lifetime award and pledges peaceful 2027 elections

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has been honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association. The award ceremony, held in Lagos, also recognized Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso for their respective contributions to national service and leadership.

During the event, IGP Disu addressed the upcoming 2027 general elections, assuring the public that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to ensuring a peaceful and violence-free electoral process. He cited successful, low-casualty recent elections in Ekiti and Osun states as evidence of the Force's capability.

To support this goal, the police have developed a security roadmap following a senior officers' conference in Owerri. The framework focuses on six priorities: strengthened intelligence and early-warning systems, intensive training, inter-agency coordination, effective communication and technology deployment, community partnership, and political neutrality.
