Igrejinha faces flooding risks and bridge closures amid heavy rains

In Igrejinha, Brazil, heavy rainfall has caused the Rio Paranhana to reach a critical attention level of 3.5 meters. Consequently, local authorities, including Mayor Leandro Horlle, have temporarily suspended vehicle traffic on the bridge in the central region to ensure public safety. The region has recorded significant precipitation, with accumulations exceeding 60 millimeters in the Vale do Paranhana and over 80 millimeters in the Serra region. Residents have also been issued a moderate alert for potential landslides.

Amidst these weather concerns, the Corpo de Bombeiros Voluntários de Igrejinha (CBVI) recently held a graduation ceremony for new members. The group welcomed seven new operational volunteer firefighters and 20 junior firefighters. CBVI Commander Graciano Ronnau noted that the new recruits are essential to meeting the municipality's service demands following several departures earlier in the year.
