Iguala Civil Registry reports decline in birth certificate issuances

In Iguala, Guerrero, the issuance of birth certificates has decreased significantly. According to Civil Registry official David Alejandro Ocampo Román, this decline is likely due to the conclusion of school enrollment periods and the temporary closure of registrations for social programs for senior citizens.

Ocampo Román also noted a decrease in marriage applications, as many couples prefer to wed during the final month of the year, often opting for ceremonies at their celebration venues rather than registry offices. Regarding death registrations, current numbers are minimal compared to the high volumes recorded during the pandemic and the following year.

Addressing rumors about municipal offices performing administrative corrections, such as fixing typos or double registrations, Ocampo Román clarified that there is no official confirmation that these can be done at the municipal level. Currently, the Technical Coordination of the Civil Registry in Chilpancingo remains the authorized entity for these platform-based procedures.
