Iguaraçu van driver in critical condition after head-on collision

A severe head-on collision occurred on the PR-317 highway near Ody Park in Iguaraçu, involving a van and a truck. The driver of the van, 28-year-old Everton Matheus, was trapped in the wreckage and required extrication by Fire Department teams.

Matheus sustained critical injuries, including cranial, facial, and thoracic trauma, as well as an exposed femur fracture. After being rescued, his level of consciousness declined, requiring intubation by SAMU medical staff. He was transported to the Maringá University Hospital for specialized care. The accident reportedly occurred when the van driver attempted an illegal overtaking maneuver.

The truck driver escaped without injuries.
