Igus to acquire Krott Electronic for industrial connection technology

Igus has announced the acquisition of Stolberg-based Krott Electronic GmbH, effective October 1, 2026. The move is intended to strengthen Igus's system business by integrating specialized connection technology for demanding industrial environments.

Krott Electronic specializes in customized plug systems, connection housings, and specific configurations for low and medium voltages, fiber optics, data transmission, and ATEX explosion-proof applications. These technologies are designed to withstand high mechanical loads, moisture, and dirt in sectors such as mining, tunnel construction, offshore oil and gas, and port infrastructure.

The acquisition also targets growing needs driven by the energy transition, specifically shore power supply for ships and charging infrastructure for heavy-duty vehicles. All Krott Electronic employees will transition to Igus, and current Managing Director Jan Krott will lead the newly formed Special Solutions Connection Technology division.
