İHAKUT conducts search and rescue drill at Lake Van

The İHAKUT Van team conducted a search and rescue drill at Lake Van in the Edremit district to test aviation technology in disaster and emergency response scenarios. The exercise simulated a situation where a person using a SUP board drifted away from the shore and became missing.

During the drill, teams practiced deployment, coordination, and aerial detection. A key highlight was the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by students from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University and İHAKUT members. This specific UAV, which has a payload capacity of approximately 6 kilograms, was used to deliver a life jacket to the simulated missing person, demonstrating that drones can be used for both surveillance and logistical support in emergencies.

The primary objectives of the training were to improve communication, optimize task distribution, and minimize response times during real-world emergencies.
