IHG Hotels & Resorts expands Holiday Inn Express footprint in Spain and Hungary

IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its Holiday Inn Express brand through new developments in Spain and Hungary.

In Spain, the chain plans to enter Murcia in partnership with Senator Hotels & Resorts within two years. Additionally, a new 137-room Holiday Inn Express is slated to open in the Carabanchel district of Madrid by 2028 or 2029, marking the brand’s first presence in a traditional neighborhood within the capital’s inner ring.

In Hungary, IHG has signed an agreement with the Xanga Group to establish a Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Debrecen. The property, expected to begin operations in 2029, will be part of a mixed-use development including residential, commercial, and retail spaces. The hotel will feature 100 guest rooms and 20 suites located approximately 1km from the city center.
