IHG Hotels & Resorts expands in Malaysia with Garner brand and franchise model

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a two-hotel portfolio agreement with King Park Hotel Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Hass Enterprise Sdn. Bhd., marking the debut of IHG’s franchise model and the Garner brand in Malaysia.

The agreement includes the rebranding of the King Park Hotel Kota Kinabalu into the 202-room Garner Hotel Kota Kinabalu. The project will be completed in two phases, with 106 rooms scheduled to open in 2027 and the remaining 96 rooms in 2029.

Additionally, the King Park Hotel Tawau will undergo an extensive refurbishment to become the 140-room Holiday Inn Express Tawau. This will mark IHG’s first property in Tawau, with an expected opening in 2028.
