IHG Hotels & Resorts expands presence in Australia and Malaysia

IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its global footprint through new strategic partnerships in Australia and Malaysia.

In Australia, IHG has expanded its partnership with Urban Property Group by signing Crowne Plaza Newcastle and Hotel Indigo Gosford. These projects, which anchor mixed-use developments in New South Wales, bring the Crowne Plaza brand back to Newcastle and introduce the Hotel Indigo lifestyle brand to the Central Coast.

In Malaysia, IHG has signed a two-hotel portfolio agreement with King Park Hotel Sdn. Bhd. This deal marks the launch of IHG’s franchise model in the country and the debut of Garner Hotels, IHG’s midscale conversion brand. The agreement includes the conversion of the King Park Hotel Kota Kinabalu into a Garner Hotel, with phases expected to open in 2027 and 2029, and the conversion of the King Park Hotel Tawau into a Holiday Inn Express, scheduled to open in 2028.
