IHS Towers exits Latin America following sale to Macquarie
IHS Towers has completed the sale of its Latin American tower operations to Macquarie Asset Management, marking the company's full exit from the region. The transaction, involving IHS Brazil and IHS Colombia, includes approximately 9,000 tower sites.
Following the acquisition, the Latin American operations have been rebranded as Vértis Torres. The new entity will be led by CEO Rafael Podestá, formerly the CRO of IHS Latin America. Despite the rebranding, the company stated that existing structures, contracts, and service channels will remain intact.
This divestment streamlines IHS Towers' focus toward its African operations, where it manages over 28,000 towers. The exit also aligns with MTN Group's ongoing plan to acquire IHS's African assets and take the company private. The MTN acquisition remains subject to regulatory approvals.
