Azerbaijan Investment Forum concludes with $10.8 billion in signed deals
The 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) concluded in Baku with the signing of 23 documents representing $10.8 billion in investment projects. The forum addressed regional connectivity, economic diversification, and the development of the Middle Corridor. Key discussions included digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and the green energy transition.
President Ilham Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan's strategic position in both East-West and North-South transit corridors, stating that transit cargo is expected to reach 16 million tons this year, with a target of 25 million tons by 2030. He also emphasized the country's renewable energy potential, noting a 157 GW capacity in the Caspian Sea sector.
In the energy sector, TotalEnergies, SOCAR, and XRG reached a Final Investment Decision for the full-scale development of the Absheron gas-condensate field, aiming for production to start in 2029. Additionally, SOCAR signed a strategic partnership with US-based Comstock Resources to explore international LNG sales from Haynesville shale assets, and a cooperation agreement with Germany's VNG for natural gas and hydrogen development.
Infrastructure and regional development also saw progress, including the inauguration of the 3.2 MW Minkend Small Hydroelectric Power Plant in the Lachin district and the launch of a textile cluster project in the Mingachevir Industrial Park.
