II Noturno International Film Festival opens in Recife

The second edition of the II Noturno – Festival Internacional de Cinema do Recife is taking place at the Cinema São Luiz and the Cinema da Fundação Joaquim Nabuco. Running from Thursday to Sunday, the festival features a program of 60 short and feature-length films, including competitive showcases, national and international panoramas, and special tribute sessions.

The event aims to bridge the gap between local Pernambucan cinema, Brazilian productions, and global works. Highlights include the premiere of ‘Cerimônia’ (2026) by the Surto & Deslumbramento collective, as well as restored versions of classic films such as ‘Chá’ (1987) and ‘Inventário de Um Feudalismo Cultural Nordestino ou Fricção histórico existencial’ (1978). The festival also includes seminars, workshops, and live performances.
