IIFA celebrates 27 years and announces future expansion

The International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) has reached its 27th year since its inception in London in 2000. Co-founder Andre Timms discussed the organization's history and its mission to provide Indian cinema with international recognition and connect the global Indian diaspora with their culture.

Upcoming highlights for the ceremony in Abu Dhabi include a multi-star performance by Salman Khan, a tribute to the late actress Sridevi by Janhvi Kapoor, and Himesh Reshammiya’s first IIFA performance. The event also plans to incorporate digital entertainment elements, such as hosting by the ‘Mirzapur’ cast.

Looking toward the future, Timms revealed that the award show is planning a major expansion, with plans to bring the ceremony to Las Vegas in 2028.
