IIM Ahmedabad launches India Pharma Archives

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), in partnership with the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA), has launched the ‘India Pharma Archives’. This digital repository documents 125 years of the evolution of India’s pharmaceutical industry, covering the period from 1901 to 2025.

Launched by Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel at the IIMA Healthcare Summit, the platform includes company histories, archival records, rare films, industry timelines, and research resources. A significant component of the archive is a collection of oral histories from first-generation pharmaceutical founders, capturing the experiences of entrepreneurs who navigated the scientific and regulatory challenges of building the sector.

The repository currently features more than 250 video stories, interviews with over thirty industry leaders, and nearly 1,000 documents and resources.
