IIM Jammu launches Nalanda Library as city's first smart library
The Nalanda Library at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu has launched as the city’s first smart library. The facility is designed to provide a modern, technology-driven environment to encourage student engagement in a digital age.
The library is fully computerized, utilizing the KOHA Library Management System and integrated Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to facilitate seamless access, tracking, and management of academic resources. A dedicated web portal allows students to access both print and digital materials, check real-time availability, and reserve discussion rooms or creative spaces online.
Librarian Shailesh K Lohiya stated that the library offers 24/7 access to digital resources from anywhere on campus, including hostel rooms. The facility aims to combine physical collections with technological integration and innovative furniture to meet the evolving needs of students and research scholars.
