IIM Jammu urged to focus research on border economies

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called on IIM Jammu to focus its research and academic priorities on border economies and frontier development. Speaking at the institute’s 10th anniversary celebrations, Sinha urged the business school to use Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh as living case studies for management education to address regional challenges and opportunities.

Sinha highlighted the institute’s growth from a cohort of 56 students to an internationally engaged institution. He noted that IIM Jammu is the fifth IIM in India to achieve both AMBA and EFMD accreditations and has established academic partnerships with institutions in countries including France, Morocco, South Korea, Greece, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Poland, Sweden, Taiwan, and Brazil.

The Lieutenant Governor also commended the institute’s expanding research output, which has grown from two published papers in 2017 to nearly 350 this year. He encouraged graduates to move beyond academic learning to create tangible enterprises and solutions for the region.
