IIT Alumni Association launches AI training for migrant workers in Singapore

The Indian Institutes of Technology Alumni Association – Singapore (IITAAS) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) in Singapore, backed by the Indian High Commission. The partnership will deliver structured digital‑literacy and artificial‑intelligence training to nearly 1,000 migrant workers over the next two years. Training sessions, held twice a month at the MWC Recreation Club in Jurong, begin in August 2026 and will cover foundational digital skills, workplace applications and emerging AI technologies. A full‑day AI workshop in March 2026 already educated more than 100 workers. Indian High Commissioner Dr Shilpak Ambule, IITAAS President Dhruv Jain and MWC Director Michael Lim highlighted the programme’s aim to empower workers, improve safety, communication and overall well‑being.

The initiative reflects growing collaboration between Indian alumni networks and Singapore’s labour welfare bodies, targeting a migrant workforce that includes large numbers of Indians, Filipinos, Chinese, Bangladeshis and others employed in construction, marine and manufacturing sectors.
