IIT Delhi and VIT University Climb Higher in QS World University Rankings

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi rose to 118th place in the QS World University Rankings 2027, marking a five‑position jump and its best ever global standing for an Indian institution. The institute’s employer reputation moved to 39th and its citations per faculty rose 26 places. Dean Somnath Baidya Roy said, “IIT Delhi remains committed to providing world‑class, affordable technological education and becoming a preferred destination for scholars worldwide.”

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University improved to 597th in the same rankings, advancing 94 places from the previous year. The university also placed 352nd in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2026 and 119th globally in engineering and technology. Chancellor Dr G. Viswanathan noted, “VIT University’s significant improvement in the QS World University Rankings is a matter of great pride.”
