IIT Kharagpur celebrates 75th anniversary with Platinum Jubilee

IIT Kharagpur is observing its Platinum Jubilee with a week-long series of celebrations marking 75 years of the institution. The program includes a variety of activities such as a campus Fun Run, technical discussions, debates, and cultural programs.

Key themes of the celebrations include “Next Gen IITians for Viksit Bharat,” focusing on the role of young graduates in India’s development, and “Beyond the IITs We Know: Building the IITs that the Nation and the World Will Need,” which explores evolving research and mentorship to meet global needs. The event also featured a Foundation Day debate titled “Faculty vs Students.”

Distinguished attendees included ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan, West Bengal Minister Kalyan Chakraborty, NITI Aayog member Gobardhan Das, and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. IIT Kharagpur Director Suman Chakraborty addressed the gathering, which also included alumni, faculty, and venture capitalists. The jubilee includes the inauguration of new initiatives, awards, and upcoming events such as a hackathon and innovation challenge.
