IIT Madras launches biotechnology finishing school

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has launched ‘UDYOG’ (Upskilling and Development for YOung Graduates), an industry-oriented finishing school designed to prepare graduates for the biotechnology and biomanufacturing sectors.

The program aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry needs through a structured pathway involving online courses, intensive laboratory training, pilot-scale exposure, and industry internships. It is being launched through SynBioME – the IIT Madras-TICEL Biofoundry.

Targeted at pre-final and final-year B.Tech., M.Tech., and M.Sc. students in biotechnology and related disciplines across India, the first batch is scheduled to begin on January 18, 2027. Early-bird registration for the initiative closes on December 15, 2026.
